Se The Leftovers (HBO) Damon Lindelof, som også har været til at lave hitserien Lost, står bag dette HBO-drama om en forstadsbys oplevelse af “The Departure” (som kan have været det, man i bibelsk forstand forstår ved Bortrykkelsen). Nogle mennesker er blevet taget, og andre blevet efterladt. Serien er baseret på bestselleren fra 2011 af Tom Perrotta (medskaber og producent). Vi følger beboerne i den fiktive by Mapleton, tre år efter den 14. oktober, hvor 140 millioner mennesker svarende til to procent af verdens befolkning, forsvandt sporløst. En af seriens hovedrolleindehavere er politiinspektør Kevin Garvey (Justin Theroux), der er vidne til mange uforklarlige begivenheder og de efterfølgende reaktioner i lokalsamfundet. Familier bliver splittet og forenet, og visheden om en kommende katastrofe får kynisme, paranoia, vanvid og okkult fanatisme til at sprede sig i den lille forstadsby.
